There is and has been a very active market for used blow molds. A search through the pages of eBay will return hundreds if not thousands of used blow molds for sale. For those searching for older vintage blow molds the offerings can be limited, with most of the products featuring newer molds that were manufactured in the past 20 years.

Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Valentine’s Day and Novelty blow molds are getting harder to find because there is only one manufacturer remaining in the U.S. that produces these products. And for those that are interested in purchasing used blow molds that were once manufactured by Grand Venture, General Foam, Poloron, Empire, and Union Products to name a few, those brands are getting more rare to find.
Many consider vintage blow molds to be collectible holiday décor. That fact can prove to be if you find the really rare blow molds like motorized Santa Claus’ or life size Choir Singers from Poloron.
How Much is a Used Vintage Holiday Blow Mold Worth?
Some of those really hard to find blow molds can sell for hundreds of dollars, which we know is true because we recently sold a used General Foam Whispering Santa for $250. A seller on eBay is trying to sell the same Whispering Santa for $350. While everyone is entitled to attempt to sell a product for whatever they think they can get, you also need to be realistic.
These older blow molds are no different than art that you might see at an auction. Their value is often tied to how much a person is willing to pay for it. Granted, some molds have a higher value depending on condition, but there is also a reasonable argument suggesting that common sense should play a role in how much a used blow mold is worth.
Shipping Costs Can Be a Problem
Because these blow molds are large and bulky, many people selling these items prefer local pickups to avoid high shipping costs. UPS and FedEx each charge a base shipping rate depending on box size, weight and zone, and they also charge for dimensional weight and include other accessorial charges to the overall cost to ship anything.
Even a modest-sized blow mold can cost $40 to ship anywhere in the U.S. and the postal service will not ship boxes if they exceed certain dimensions. A large blow mold can easily cost between $50 and $80 to ship, but there are ways to ship these products to mitigate these costs.
